Fairly recently, I was debating with a buddy of mine about which brand released the first reverse panda chronograph. He thought it was one brand, I thought it was another, but we were both wrong (I was closer, though). The first reverse panda dial chronograph was the original top quality clone Breitling SuperOcean watches. If Breitling’s aeronautical accolades were not enough, Breitling’s water-faring chops are backed by the SuperOcean Chronograph, as it was the first diving chronograph ever when it was released in 1957. With 200 meters of water resistance in a stylish package, the reverse panda dial design was done to improve legibility underwater. Keeping up the momentum of the redesigned SuperOcean Heritage released last year and a year shy of the model’s 70th anniversary, 1:1 Breitling replica watches have unveiled its new reverse panda-dialled SuperOcean Heritage B01 Chronograph.

You can read all about the updated SuperOcean Heritage line in Zach’s coverage from last year, but in short, the model line was updated with new case sizes, new case geometry, and new movements, all of which helped make the SuperOcean a more compelling offering in the space of luxury dive replica watches UK. The SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph shrunk from 44mm down to 42mm, and dropped from 15.65mm in thickness to 14.55mm, largely aided by the switch from a Valjoux 7750 to Breitling’s own B01 chronograph movement. The lug-to-lug is also pretty compact for a big-ish diver, measuring 49.56mm.

The main attraction here though, is the new dial variation. While black dialled chronographs with silver sub-dials aren’t groundbreaking, this new offering really heightens the vintage aesthetic of the SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph. The indices draw inspiration from the original 1957 best selling Breitling fake watches, keeping the triangular dagger-esque indices of the original, executed in a less dramatic but more lux fashion as they are reduced in size and applied as opposed to being printed, as with the original. The large circular marker with the dagger running through at 12 o’clock remains as well, yet again, done in a less radical and more upscale manner. The indices and hands are lumed with Super-Luminova. While the original had another circular index at 6 o’clock, that has been done away with to make room for the date window.

The dial is covered by a cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and the uni-directional steel bezel features a ceramic insert. As already mentioned, inside is the Swiss copy Breitling Caliber B01 watches; a bi-directional automatic-winding 30-minute chronograph movement with a column-wheel and vertical clutch, operating at 28,800 bph. The B01 has a 70-hour power reserve, is COSC-certified, and can be viewed through the sapphire display case back. Just like the original, the SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph is water resistant to 200 meters.

There are two strap options for the SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph, a black mesh-look rubber strap with a deployant folding clasp, or a stainless steel mesh bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp.

Closing Thoughts
I’ve been a casual fan of the best quality replica Breitling SuperOcean Heritage lineup watches for a while now, but there has never been one that made jump out of my seat. Previous generations were too large for me, but the updates presented last year did address those concerns. The new SuperOcean Heritage models are some really handsome best replica Breitling watches in my eyes (especially the two-tone models), and this new reverse panda model is no different. From a design perspective, I do wish they had opted for a colour-matched date wheel, but it is less bothersome with this new dial variation. I also have voiced my casual disdain for 30-minute chronographs in the past, and that remains true, but the original SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph was also a 30-minute chronograph, so I think it gets a pass. I hope one day Breitling does a 39mm version of the AAA fake Breitling watches, as that would be the same size as the original, but for now, if you’re looking for a luxury dive-chronograph from one of the big brands, I’d say this is a very good option. If you’re not afraid of leaning into the full vintage aesthetic, the metal mesh bracelet is pretty damn good too.
